Academics

classroom of kids

Our program is designed to provide a well-rounded education consistent with the classical model. Subjects include  Literature, English, Science, History, Geography, Theology Latin, and electives. Mathematics curriculum is chosen and administered by each individual family.

Classes

Students attend our program Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 3:00pm on the St. Thomas More campus. Classes are limited to 12 students per class to provide a high level of teacher-student interaction. Teachers provide lesson plans for each week, which detail the material to be covered with your homeschooler.

Testing

Starting in middle school, teachers provide regular tests to check comprehension of the material. Parents who desire more testing can use additional tests provided in the books. Some parents choose to periodically check their child’s progress with standardized testing; others do not. Parents have the freedom to make these decisions based on the needs of their individual children, their long-term education goals, and other personal preferences.

Support

Families are encouraged to meet with teachers as often as needed to appropriately tailor the education to the individual student.

Field Trips

Twice each year, we hold a day-long, community-wide retreat at the Schoenstatt Shrine in Westlake. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get a break and bond as a community. The retreat generally includes mass, crafts, games and just spending time together in a beautiful setting.

In addition, many parents like to enrich lessons through field trips in Austin and the surrounding area. Families can coordinate on field trips due to all of our students simultaneously studying the same time period in history each year. Sometimes, the entire program or certain classes organize and participate in field trips. Other times, parents organize these trips and invite other students and families to join them.
